PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The lead preschool teacher is responsible for planning learning experiences, implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, supervising children, communicating with parents, and providing a healthy and safe learning environment for the children that enables every child to explore and discover the world around them.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Establish a strong educational foundation that will support lifelong learning for each child.
- Operate Blooming Minds Learning Center according to state licensing standards
- Develop and deliver interactive lesson plans through collaboration with other staff members
- Work with assistant teachers to monitor class schedule
- Facilitate children's activities, including storytelling, games, and songs
- Manage all classroom activities, including breaks, play, lessons and meals
- Adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet different learning styles and interests
- Track progress and offer documented reports to families
- Assist in building children’s developmental skills
- Establish and enforce behavior rules in the classroom
- Maintain positive relationships among children
- Offer classroom resources and tools
- Maintain classroom inventories for supplies and materials
- Train and evaluate assistant teachers.
- Establish positive and productive relationships with families and all teaching staff members.
Classroom Development and Implementation:
- Participate in establishing and maintaining a secure and healthy atmosphere for all children
- Promote positive self-esteem and independence in each child and cultivate respect for oneself and others
- Encourage positive relationships between children and adults
- Facilitate the development of healthy habits in all children
- Support healthy social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth in age-appropriate ways
- Ensure proper record keeping and reporting including lesson plans, incident reports, communication logs and other pertinent documentation
Additional responsibilities:
- Complete janitorial duties
- Comply with state, center and classroom rules and regulations
- Adhere to all sanitation guidelines and health procedures
- Consult with Director concerning classroom issues
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in a preschool or daycare setting
- Participate in professional development activities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
- Organizational, staff and classroom management abilities
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Handle high stress situations and high noise levels
- Be able to keep up with active children for extended periods of time
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.20 - $14.20 per hour
