Learning and Development Specialist

The Learning & Development Specialist provides support and oversight to the design, delivery, and administration of learning programs that build employee capability, and drive organizational performance. This role partners with managers and subject matter experts to coordinate training initiatives, maintain learning systems, and support a culture of continuous learning.


Essential Functions:

  • Develops and curates learning materials, job aids, toolkits, facilitator guides, and other resources that supports on-the-job learning and the long-term growth of employees and leaders
  • Creates and delivers learning programs that meet employee and business needs, using formats such as workshops, virtual classrooms, e-learning, and blended learning.
  • Supports orientation, onboarding, and new-hire training programs across organization.
  • Assists in overseeing the day-to-day administration of the learning management system (LMS) and other major talent management platforms and systems (Articulate, Predictive Index, Qualtrics, Canva, etc)
  • Partners and supports the VP of Talent Management and HR leaders on employee engagement initiatives, rewards and recognition programs, performance management, annual compliance and regulatory training, leadership summits, succession planning, virtual learning series, and career development programs.
  • Will travel to hospital sites to provide hands-on, on-site training, coaching, and implementation support in partnership with clinical leaders and operational teams (15% travel - 1 or two times a month).
  • Measures learning effectiveness using evaluations, assessments, and business impact metrics.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, organizational development, psychology, business or other related fields or equivalent work and education experience.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in human resources, learning and development, training, or organizational development. Strong facilitation, presentation, and instructional design skills. Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and digital learning tools.

  • Well organized, flexible, and responsible.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Project management and prioritization
  • Heavy, high-paced workload requires high energy and excellent organization and time management.
  • Able to work tactfully and cooperatively with a variety of internal and external customers.
  • Performs exemplary customer service and assistance to employees, executives and HR Directors

Work Environment:

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
