The Opportunity:
As the Learning Specialist and Academic Advisor you will be responsible for helping student athletes organize, monitor, evaluate and make adjustments pertaining to their academic progress and development. Your primary responsibilities will include: academic skill development, individualized support of academic success plans, and tracking and monitoring individual progress. In this position, you will independently work directly with a diverse population of student athletes to identify options and courses of action when resolving problems and/or making decisions utilizing specialized knowledge of complex NCAA, Pac-12, State, WSU and department rules/regulations.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3,665 to $4,882 | Range 41 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with
WAC 357-28
.

In accordance with
RCW 49.58.110
, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience with student services, learning/tutoring services, and/or relevant experience/experience.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings to support unit programs.
  • Ability to work with students, coaches, and administrators in a broad range of situations.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the following: WSU Academic Rules and Procedures, WSU Policies and Procedures, and available services at Center for Advising and Career Development.
  • Demonstrate interest for the welfare and success of student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Ability to initiate and complete projects with specific deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, career exploration software, website career exploration, e-mail, and Internet.
  • Demonstrate commitment and knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with a diverse student population.
