The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Legal Administrative Professional II. The Legal Administrative Professional II provides a vital bridge between the public, victims, community partners, and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (PAO). It combines responsibilities in reception coverage, victim notification, diversion referrals, and trial support. The successful candidate will serve as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for all visitors and families meeting with the forensic interviewer. This role also assists with processing referrals to community diversion programs, preparing and distributing victim notification packets, identifying and referring appropriate cases to the relevant community support agencies, locating missing contact information for youth, and supporting trial preparation for attorneys and paralegals.

Work Schedule: This position works a 40-hour work week schedule, normally Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is eligible for King County’s generous benefits package.
Salary: Range 44 - $32.50 (step one) - $41.20 (step ten) hourly*

Union Membership:
Positions in this classification are represented by Teamsters Local No. 117.

Selection Process:
Materials will be reviewed for qualifications, and the most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in a panel interview process. Current PAO employees who are represented by Teamsters Local No. 117 will receive priority consideration.

  • In addition to the benefits listed on the benefits tab, employees with less than 2 years of service will receive .25 per hour less than the hourly salary table due to a mandatory contribution toward the Teamsters Pension Trust that was voted by members of the collective bargaining agreement between our office and Teamsters Local No. 117. This contribution is made by the employee and after two years it is paid by the employer.

Job Duties

  • Identifying victim contact information and sending correspondence
  • Sending referral disposition correspondence to law enforcement
  • Sending youth referral information to community organizations
  • Identifying missing contact information
  • Occasional coverage for Victim Advocates
  • Occasional assistance organizing, indexing, scanning, Bates stamping, and preparing voluminous amounts of materials for dissemination
  • Uploading documents into PbK
  • Redacting discovery
  • Making trial notebooks and assisting with trial exhibits
  • E-Filing and e-Service of documents
  • Assisting paralegal with adding/updating witness information and court dates in PbK
  • Creating scheduling tables for witness interviews
  • Submitting transcription requests to Central Word Processing
  • Additional responsibilities and/or tasks may be incorporated, or existing ones modified as business needs evolve
  • Actively participate in PAO equity work, attending equity training and discussions

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Desire to embrace a learning culture and to build skills, working comfortably in a fast-paced environment and applying procedures using good judgment
  • Ability to accept supervision, coaching and feedback
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to remain calm and professional while diffusing emotionally charged or sensitive situations with empathy and respect
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage voluminous caseloads
  • Adept at engaging a wide range of personalities from diverse individuals, including victims, advocates, witnesses, prosecutors, defense attorneys and investigators, law enforcement, judges, court personnel, and more
  • Adept at maintaining confidentiality and discretion involving sensitive matters
  • Computer skills and familiarity with or ability to quickly learn to use a variety of software/programs: PbK, Word, Adobe Pro, Excel, PowerPoint and more
  • Familiarity with criminal justice databases and search programs: JABS, JBRS, SAWS, KC Script, People Map/Accurint and other criminal justice programs a plus
  • Flexibility to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Demonstrated commitment to working on Race, Equity and Social Justice; the ability to be an innovator, problem solver and compassionate advocate who will partner with our community to do justice
