Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, articulate, and proactive Legal Assistant to join our dedicate team. This is a multifaceted role designed for someone who enjoys a blend of substantive legal drafting and essential office management. You will be the "right hand" to our attorney and paralegals, ensuring our clients feel supported as they navigate the complexities of estate planning and probate administration.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Communication Excellence: Superior writing skills and an articulate speaking voice and verbal skills. You should be comfortable explaining next steps to clients and writing professional correspondence. English skills highly valued. Spanish language a plus but not essential. (Serious candidates should be prepared to sit for an in-office writing exercise.)
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills required in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, One Note, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Editor. Experience with e-signature platforms and digital encryption tools is preferred. Familiarity with Calendly booking tools is preferred. Prior knowledge of SIMPLIFILE, to record documents. Familiarity with Westlaw or Lexis Nexus for legal document generation a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous proofreading skills; you should be the person who catches the small errors before a document reaches a client’s hands.
- Reliability: This is a full-time, in-office position requiring consistency and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a calm, focused manner. Discretion, and confidentiality are essential character requirements. Attorney/client privilege is vital. There will be days that you work independently without supervision or co-workers in office and you should be capable of self-motivation to anticipate work that needs to be completed; and prioritizing the most important and time-sensitive projects first, so that co-workers who alternate days in office versus virtual work can pick up and drop off work with you.
- Client Focused Compassion: You will be the primary point of contact for individuals navigating some of life’s most difficult transitions—including terminal illness and the loss of a loved one. Your ability to remain compassionate and respectful to people of all backgrounds, races, ages and emotional states is one of the most important intangible qualities we will be considering.
