Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Specialist to join our legal team. The Billing Specialist carries out all phases of legal billing in our Case Management system by compiling, managing, and executing attorney billing edits, finalization, and posting of invoices, as well as maintaining contact with attorneys, staff, vendors, and clients while maintaining confidentiality of client and firm matters.

Duties

  • Process legal billing accurately and efficiently, following the client’s fee agreement.
  • Coordinate the monthly distribution of prebills to partners for review and revisions.
  • Generating pre-bills every month, editing based on feedback, and distributing final invoices to clients through various methods, including various e-billing platforms.
  • Perform revisions as per attorney or legal assistant instructions while keeping with firm policy.
  • Monitor the completion of suggested revisions and finalization of invoices.
  • Manage collections by tracking outstanding invoices, following up on overdue accounts, and communicating with clients and attorneys regarding balances.
  • Providing support to clients and attorneys by responding to inquiries and assisting staff with billing procedures.
  • Accurately and efficiently research and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Analyze invoices to ensure compliance with Firm policies and client billing guidelines.
  • Assisting with special projects and potentially working overtime during peak periods like the month-end close, based on department needs, is required.
  • Research aging WIP and A/R balances and provide attorneys with thoughtful analysis regarding the best course of action for balances.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in legal billing, collections, or a related field is preferred.
  • Candidate should be a forward thinker and should be ready and willing to contribute their ideas towards the improvement of department processes.
  • The ideal candidate will be willing to take initiative to complete tasks accurately and on time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Office, Excel, and various billing software programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
