The client is a government entity focused on acquiring equity stakes to support business and project funding based in Abu Dhabi.


Your new role


You will be responsible for managing legal risk across all functions, the Board, and the portfolio of companies, including their investments, projects, and assets. As a key legal adviser, you will provide strategic guidance across a broad range of legal disciplines, with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures (JVs), and private equity (PE).


Your role will involve handling diverse transactions, including M&A, asset financings, corporate structuring, and corporate finance, drafting early-stage deal documentation, advising on terms, and collaborating closely with the corporate commercial legal team to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and support the success of the company’s ventures.


Responsibilities


  • Focus on M&A and JV activities within the Group, while recognising that the role extends beyond this to encompass corporate and commercial responsibilities across the entire organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, international best practices, policies, and procedures to protect the organisation and its subsidiaries from significant legal risks.
  • Supervise the provision of legal and regulatory guidance to minimise financial, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Support the Chief of Legal and Senior Legal Counsel by staying updated on new legislation and regulatory changes that may affect the Group, and provide advice on how to ensure compliance with these developments.
  • Assist the Chief of Legal in creating and upholding a legal framework for the organisation and its subsidiaries to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal support.


What you'll need to succeed


  • At least 4 years of legal experience gained from a reputable law firm and/or in-house experience from a multi-national company
  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree from a recognised/reputable university in law
  • Active membership from a recognised legal associate or regulatory body from a common law jurisdiction
  • Excellent English language written and speaking skills. Additional languages are desirable
  • Middle Eastern experience is essential
  • Demonstrates the ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
