Legal Manager

We are looking for a "Legal Manager" to be assigned to our "Legal" department located in İstanbul HQ or Dubai Office.

What we expect
  • Graduated from a reputable university is a must. Additionally, holding an LL.M. or PhD degree in France or having professional legal experience in France is considered an asset.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in French is essential, including proven experience in drafting, negotiating and managing commercial matters in French. Excellent command of both written and spoken French and English is required. Prior professional experience in Francophone MENA markets is strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the law of obligations, commercial law and energy contracts, project development, financing and corporate matters.
  • Preferably, having worked in the legal departments of companies operating in the energy sector and/or in law firms providing consultancy services in the sector of energy and/or project development, and having experience working with countries governed either by French law or laws modelled on French law.
  • Strong legal drafting and writing, negotiation, follow-up and organizational skills.
  • Solution-oriented, organized, competent in teamwork and time management.
  • No restrictions for frequent travelling and site visits, mostly in Africa.
What awaits you
  • Reviewing and providing legal consultancy regarding sale of electricity and construction agreements, corporate matters, financings, and other contracts.
  • Conducting due diligence and review of the local energy sector regulations, and other relevant legislation including marine time, and international conventions that are applicable.
  • Following up with the performance under various agreements with third parties, including preparation all legal correspondence with relevant stakeholders, assistance in obtaining any permits, approvals and/or licenses, monitoring the overall compliance of the company with the contractual and legal requirements.
  • Selecting and engaging lawyers and law and coordinating the activities and services of the local law firm.
  • Responsible for the legal team involved in the powership projects, selection of direct report legal team members and monitoring their performance and development,
  • Responsible for the establishment of local companies in jurisdictions where powerships are/will be operational;
  • Responsible for any local legal proceedings including the engagement of the local law firm to represent the company in local courts, follow up and monitor the local court proceedings, being actively involved to ensure no harm is caused to the powerships, crew, other employees, and directors of the company, and representing the company before any local authority in relation to any legal matter/dispute.
