Under the supervision of the Supervising Deputy Attorney General, the Legal Secretary performs legal secretarial duties in support of the Sacramento Office’s legal team. The Legal Secretary adheres to office procedures, ensures all legal documents are skillfully drafted, proofread, formatted, and files and serves said documents in accordance with legal requirements and court deadlines. At the Sacramento Office, the Legal Secretary maintains internal databases and systems and organizes voluminous case files complying with federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations, as well as office policies and practices. The Legal Secretary drafts, reviews, and process office correspondence, maintains office calendars, and processes subpoenas and travel.

- This position is located in the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse, Criminal Prosecutions Section, Sacramento.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experienced in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat necessary
- Knowledge of ProLaw, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote highly desirable
- Skilled in using the California Style Manual and Bluebook desirable
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills necessary
- Knowledge of criminal discovery process and criminal law and procedure, including legal terminology, and Rules of Court highly desirable
- Experience with criminal case management systems desirable
- Works well in a team environment and independently
- Is cooperative and tactful with staff and management
- Shows initiative and willingness to learn and grow
- Communicates directly and effectively orally and in writing
- Uses discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information
