Legal Secretary

JOB DESCRIPTION
Well-established, “AV” rated law firm in Houston’s Galleria area seeks a Legal Assistant with 3+ years of experience to join our insurance defense litigation team.

The ideal candidate must have the ability to work well with the Legal team and support staff under general supervision. We require someone with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Support a key Attorney and two Associates
• Manage calendar for court appearances, depositions, mediations, client meetings and deadlines
• Review and proofread documents before filing
• File legal documents with courts and serve them on all parties to lawsuit
• Assist with discovery, including creating shells
• Contact court personnel for hearing and trial dates
• Contact opposing counsel to schedule depositions, mediations, hearing and trial settings
• Save and organize documents to file
• Assist Attorney in preparing for hearings, depositions, mediation and trial

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years civil legal experience, insurance defense a plus
• Strong understanding of legal terminology and Texas Procedure
• Extensive knowledge of calendaring and the calculation of deadlines
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and legal professionals
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
