Legal Word Processor

A major client of ours has a need for a Legal Word Processor for their Garden City, NY location. This is a permanent role.


Summary : Enhances attorney and staff effectiveness by providing word processing and marketing support. Requires an associate’s degree or its equivalent and 5 or more years of related experience.


Essential Functions and Duties :

• Provide Firm-wide high-level word processing support

• Coordinate handling of all assignments with other word processors

• Respond to a high volume of requests for assistance; communicate effectively and promptly

• Maintain organized and updated client mailing and marketing lists; coordinate Firm mailings

• Work on projects requiring advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and desktop publishing skills

• Assist with marketing activities and projects ( e.g. , articles, press-releases, ads, interviews)

• Maintain updated model HIPAA documents

• Assist with publication of bulletins

• Liaise with outside marketing company to distribute marketing materials

• Assist IT department with website projects

• Assume additional responsibilities as required to meet needs of Firm


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

• Ability to effectively multi-task, meet deadlines and excel in a team atmosphere

• Ability to type at least 65 words per minute with high accuracy rate

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and desktop publishing programs

• Familiarity with Constant Contact or similar program

• Familiarity with Hummingbird document management system or similar system

• Well-developed interpersonal and client relation skills

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Knowledge of traditional and digital methods of dictation

• Ability to work overtime (mornings, evenings and/or weekends) as needed


Education and Experience :

• Associate’s degree or its equivalent and 5 or more years of related experience
