Role Summary

The Letter of Credit Officer is responsible for managing and processing letters of credit and related trade finance instruments. This role ensures compliance with international trade regulations, internal policies, and client requirements while facilitating smooth financial transactions between buyers and sellers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process incoming and outgoing letters of credit (LCs), standby LCs, and bank guarantees
  • Verify documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with UCP 600 and ISBP standards
  • Liaise with clients, banks, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely execution
  • Monitor LC expiry dates, shipment deadlines, and payment schedules
  • Maintain accurate records of all LC transactions and correspondence
  • Provide support to lending officers and trade specialists on LC-related matters
  • Ensure adherence to internal risk controls and regulatory guidelines
  • Prepare periodic reports on LC activity and performance metrics

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in trade finance or LC operations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in trade finance systems and banking platforms
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
