Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Five years of claims experience in bodily injury and property damage to include claims reserving, settlement negotiations and investigations are required. Must possess or have possessed a Florida Adjuster's license and a Driver license.

Recruitment Notes


Responsibilities include supervising administrative and technical staff within the Liability Adjusting Unit to ensure the fair, timely, and equitable resolution of bodily injury, property damage, and or civil rights claims against Miami-Dade County. Supervise, train, and evaluate claims for staff, including performance appraisals and disciplinary actions. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conducts regular meetings with adjusters to address workflow, provide updates on claims, and resolve issues. Reviews and audits claim files for accuracy, documentation, and proper coding in the claims management system. Reviews and approves settlements, expense payments, claim denials, and contractor referrals in accordance with established guidelines and Administrative Orders. Conducts claims committee meetings to review settlement recommendations and provide feedback. Handles escalated claimant and attorney concerns and work to resolve disputes effectively. Coordinate mail processing, claim intake, and correspondence distribution. Oversees complex claims matters, including total loss vehicle claims and high-value settlements. Performs special projects and other duties assignment upon request.

The People and Internal Operations Department provide a wide range of internal support services for the ongoing operation of County government which focuses on promoting operational best practices and efficient government operations. ISD provides various customer-based business services that include, but not limited to facility management, design and construction management, fleet management, risk management, surplus property disposition services, capital inventory management, and large-scale printing services. Through these various business lines, ISD is engaged in real estate development and management, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, elevator regulation, materials management, and parking services.
