Library Media Specialist

School Librarian (Library Media Specialist)Goal: To foster academic excellence by providing services and instruction that support the curriculum and empower students to become effective lifelong learners and ethical users of information.

• Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with faculty to design learning opportunities that integrate library and technology resources.
  • Maintain a library collection that reflects community diversity and affirms varied student identities.
  • Teach information literacy, research skills, and critical thinking.
  • Manage library automation systems, circulation, and digital databases.
  • Promote reading for pleasure and support school-wide reading incentive programs.
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities
  • Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as necessary
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness with all students
• Requirements:
  • Licensure: Massachusetts DESE Certification in Library (All Levels).
  • Education: Masters Degree in Library Science preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in digital library systems, technology integration, and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices.
