About the Role:

The Massage Therapist administers professional massage and body treatments to our guests. They must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments, and be willing to train in our Spa’s specific massage and body treatment offerings. In addition, they must be able to learn the products and services and effectively communicate to meet the needs of our guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Arrives on time for your shift, acting promptly with each appointment, and performs services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
  • Provides consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with Spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
  • Informs and educates our guests about specific wellness concerns effectively.
  • Cares for equipment properly and uses proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
  • Upholds the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the Spa’s policies and procedures.
  • Performs prep work and properly cleans and restocks work area as required.
  • Keeps all spa areas clean and stocked, including employee lounge, prep area, and bathrooms.
  • Communicates to Management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the Spa that require attention.
  • Promotes the Spa, treatments, services, sessions, and retail, as well as fitness programs, promotions and/or discounts available actively.
  • Handles guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Provides accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all requests by guests.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, at the discretion of the manager based on the particular requirements of the hotel.


  • Possess ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and contributes toward a quality work environment.
  • Attends, participates in, and supports training and staff meetings for the Spa.
  • Assists in all areas of the Spa operation, as requested by management.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Must be able to perform treatments within the time scheduled.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, supporting the needs of the spa.
  • Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure without letting that pressure show to the guest.

Qualifications:

Education:

Accredited Massage School with 500+ hours completed.

Experience:

A minimum of one-year of experience performing massage and body treatments in a high end/luxury spa or spa environment.

Licenses and Certificates:

Must possess current Florida licenses and certificates for esthetics as required by the State, County, City/Town. Up to date on State required CEUs.

Punctuality:

All Massage Therapists are expected to arrive 20 minutes prior to their scheduled shifts in order to prepare treatment room for the shift.
