Litigation Associate Attorney – Mass Tort & Product Liability

Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Mass Tort and Product Liability practice in our Chicago office. This position offers a hybrid schedule and the opportunity to work alongside an award-winning trial team on complex, high-stakes litigation nationwide.

About the Role

Due to the continued growth of our Mass Tort and Product Liability practice, we are seeking an associate with 3–6 years of experience in mass torts or product liability litigation. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working with a nationally recognized trial team that has successfully defended Fortune 500 companies in some of the country’s most challenging venues.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy
• Take and defend depositions
• Participate in all stages of trial preparation, including discovery, witness preparation, and courtroom advocacy
• Assist in developing case strategy and counseling clients
• Handle court appearances and argue motions as needed
• Collaborate closely with partners and senior associates on complex litigation matters

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• 3–6years of experience in mass torts and/or product liability litigation
• Candidates with experience in other defense litigation practice areas within the 3–7-year range may be considered
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills
• Experience drafting motions, taking and defending depositions, and managing discovery
• Trial experience or a strong interest in trial work is a plus
• Admitted to practice in Illinois

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
• Ability to stand, walk, and move between offices, conference rooms, and courtrooms as needed
• Ability to travel occasionally for depositions, hearings, trials, and client meetings
• Ability to lift and carry files, trial materials, or equipment weighing up to approximately 15–20 pounds
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, including during court proceedings and client interactions

Compensation and Benefits

Starting at $170000 + per year, with final compensation dependent on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
