Prominent McKinney Law Firm is looking for a legal assistant to support three civil litigation attorneys by e-filing, assisting with calendar management and document production, typing documents and correspondence, communicating with clients and vendors, entering time, and other various support duties. This is a full time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., overtime as needed.

Successful candidates will be self-motivated and able to prioritize, have a high level of communication and organizational skills, possess a strong work ethic and have an eye for detail. Dependability, flexibility and the ability to adapt to last minute changes on deadline driven matters are critical traits.

The position requires at least three years’ experience in Civil Litigation and Appellate work and proficiency with various software programs such as Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Outlook and Excel. Experience with additional software programs such as iManage, Tabs3 Software, TASB, and LexisNexis is a plus but not required. Knowledge in additional Firm practice areas (Business Litigation, Construction Litigation, School Law, Tax Matters, Real Estate, Transactional, Probate and Bankruptcy) are a plus. High School Diploma Required, Bachelor’s Degree Preferred. Salary commensurate with experience; Excellent Benefits Package.

Primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Open, organize, and maintain client files
  • Draft, type/transcribe, proofread, and edit documents for civil litigation matters including pleadings, discovery and correspondence
  • E-file documents with local, state, federal and appellate courts and maintain electronic and paper files
  • Schedule meetings and conference calls, and assist with travel arrangements when necessary
  • Maintain multiple calendars and keep attorneys aware of scheduled events and approaching deadlines
  • Input attorneys time entries into billing software on a daily basis
  • Communicate by phone and email with clients, court officials and others for attorney(s), maintaining professionalism and a high level of customer service at all times
  • Answer and handle incoming phone calls in a professional manner
  • Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, including making copies, binders, or other required materials
  • Assist fellow team members as needed and requested
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
