  • The Logistics Custodian provides essential operational and facility support for the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis to ensure the seamless execution of precinct events and reservations. This role is responsible for the precise setup and breakdown of event spaces, the safe relocation of heavy equipment, and the secure transport of critical documents and supplies.
  • As a primary onsite representative, the Logistics Custodian monitors community center reservations to ensure guest compliance with permit agreements and safety protocols. By coordinating closely with administrators and maintaining meticulous facility records, the Technician ensures all precinct assets are managed efficiently. Ultimately, this position serves as the backbone of precinct operations, maintaining high standards of organization, safety, and professional service across all facilities.
Event Logistics & Venue Management
Lead the end-to-end execution of event setups and breakdowns for the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis. This includes configuring furniture and equipment to exact specifications provided by event organizers and ensuring venues are restored to original condition in a timely, efficient manner.

Facility Oversight & Compliance
Monitor community center reservations to ensure guest satisfaction and operational safety. Act as the primary point of contact for reserving parties, providing necessary resources while strictly enforcing compliance with permit agreements and facility policies.

Asset Relocation & Material Handling
Manage the physical movement and relocation of heavy office furniture, specialized equipment, and precinct assets. Safely lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs, utilizing proper ergonomic techniques and material-handling equipment.

Courier & Distribution Services
Provide reliable courier support by transporting sensitive documents, essential supplies, and inter-departmental materials across various precinct locations, ensuring deadlines and security protocols are met.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
Communicate with administrators and faculty regarding special custodial needs and security of facilities; maintain routine records related to work performed; request supplies and cleaning materials according to established procedures

Other Duties as Assigned
Perform other specialized duties as assigned to support the evolving logistical needs of the Precinct.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant experience
Licenses:
  • Valid Texas State Driver's License
Physical Proficiency:
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting, carrying, and maneuvering items up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Operational Coordination:
Proven ability to interpret floor plans or verbal instructions to execute precise event layouts (auditorium style, banquet, etc.).

Conflict Resolution & Diplomacy:
Strong interpersonal skills to manage guest expectations at community centers while firmly enforcing permit regulations and safety codes.

Time Management:
Exceptional ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, particularly during tight "turnaround" windows between events.

Communication & Reporting:
Proficiency in maintaining clear digital or manual logs and communicating effectively with high-level administrators and security staff.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Full-time | Regular
  • Hours will be discussed during departmental interview.
    • Evening and weekends shifts are required.
    • On-call as needed.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Indoor and outdoor environment; subject to regular exposure to dust, fumes and odors.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • This is a physically active role.
  • This role requires the ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
