McPherson Concrete Storage Systems manufactures concrete silos and water tower posts, which often require work at high elevations and travel to remote job sites.

About the Role

We are looking for a Logistics Coordinator to oversee delivery scheduling, dispatching, and coordination of precast pipe and product shipments at our Wichita Concrete Pipe, Inc. location. This role ensures trucks, drivers, and outside haulers are used efficiently while meeting customer delivery commitments. The ideal candidate can manage fast-paced logistics, communicate clearly with customers, and ensure compliance with all trucking regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Scheduling

  • Communicate with customers and internal teams to set accurate and realistic delivery dates.

  • Ensure all deliveries occur on the mutually agreed-upon date and time.

Dispatching

  • Use company software to generate pick tickets and delivery tickets.

  • Enter and release will-call orders.

  • Review and approve contract trucking invoices for accuracy.

  • Coordinate loading with yard personnel and verify jobsite directions and conditions for safe, efficient delivery.

Procurement

  • Coordinate ordering of delivery-related items (mastic, gaskets, plugs, etc.) to ensure availability before delivery dates.

  • Issue purchase orders as needed and follow company purchasing guidelines.

Preventive Maintenance & Permitting

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal trucking regulations and maintain required documentation.

  • Obtain special trip permits for company trucks when necessary.

  • Monitor preventive maintenance schedules for trucks and trailers.

  • Ensure required daily, monthly, and annual inspections/logs are completed.

  • Maintain professional appearance standards for company and contract hauler trucks and drivers.

Management

  • Manage company drivers, including scheduling, daily assignments, tracking hours, and participating in evaluations and merit reviews.

  • Manage and coordinate outside haulers to meet delivery needs beyond internal capacity.

  • Assist in negotiating competitive trucking rates.

  • Experience in dispatching, transportation coordination, or logistics (preferred).

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Working knowledge of transportation regulations or willingness to learn.

  • Basic computer proficiency; ability to learn company software.
