Job Title: Logistics Coordinator

Department: Supply Chain / Operations / Logistics
Reports To: Logistics Manager / Supply Chain Manager
Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time

Job Summary

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the efficient coordination of the supply chain, including shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory management. This role acts as the central point of contact between carriers, suppliers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure goods are transported on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities1. Shipment Coordination

  • Plan and schedule inbound and outbound freight shipments (air, ocean, rail, and ground).
  • Select carriers based on cost, route, and speed requirements.
  • Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and commercial invoices.
  • Track shipments in transit and proactively resolve delays or damages.

2. Inventory & Warehouse Support

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock transfers between locations.
  • Work with warehouse teams to ensure accurate receiving, put-away, and order picking.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assist with month-end inventory reconciliation as needed.

3. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all shipments comply with domestic and international trade regulations (e.g., customs, tariffs, hazardous materials).
  • Prepare import/export documentation (certificates of origin, shipper’s letter of instruction).
  • Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities for auditing purposes.

4. Vendor & Customer Communication

  • Serve as the primary contact for carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Communicate shipping status, delays, or changes to customers and internal teams.
  • Negotiate freight rates and resolve billing discrepancies with carriers.

5. Process Improvement

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to reduce costs (e.g., route optimization, carrier consolidation).
  • Assist in developing and implementing logistics policies and KPIs.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain coordination.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with logistics software (e.g., ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite; TMS).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with customs regulations (for international roles) and domestic shipping rules (DOT/FMCSA).

Soft Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

  • On-time shipment/delivery rate (>98%)
  • Freight cost per unit or per order
  • Accuracy of shipping documentation (0 errors)
  • Customer satisfaction scores related to delivery
  • Inventory accuracy rate

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Standard office environment with moderate use of computers and phones.
  • May require occasional visits to warehouse/distribution centers (safety gear may be needed).
  • Some roles may require on-call availability or extended hours during peak seasons.
