Roles and Responsibilities

Rates Requests (Air & Sea Freight)

  • Purpose: Obtain competitive pricing for air and sea shipments.
  • Key Duties:
  • Request and compare freight rates from multiple carriers, freight forwarders, or NVOCCs.
  • Maintain a database of valid rates, transit times, and surcharges.
  • Negotiate spot rates or long-term contracts based on volume forecasts.
  • Ensure all quotes comply with Incoterms and destination-specific requirements.

2. Bookings of Air and Sea Shipments

  • Purpose: Secure space and arrange timely cargo movement.
  • Key Duties:
  • Create bookings with airlines, shipping lines, or consolidators.
  • Provide accurate cargo details (weight, dimensions, packaging, HS codes).
  • Coordinate pickup dates, container arrangements, and required documentation.
  • Liaise with warehouse and freight partners to ensure dispatch readiness.

3. Float RFQs (Request for Quotations)

  • Purpose: Solicit and evaluate quotes for various logistics and supply chain services.
  • Key Duties:
  • Prepare and distribute RFQs for freight, warehousing, customs clearance, etc.
  • Define scope, volumes, destinations, service levels, and compliance criteria.
  • Analyze received quotations for price, lead time, and service quality.
  • Shortlist vendors and facilitate selection based on total cost of ownership (TCO).

4. Inventory Control

  • Purpose: Maintain optimal stock levels and ensure product availability.
  • Key Duties:
  • Track and manage inbound/outbound stock in coordination with warehouse teams.
  • Update ERP or inventory management systems with stock movement.
  • Perform regular stock audits and cycle counts.
  • Minimize stockouts, overstocking, and dead inventory.
  • Coordinate with demand planners and procurement teams for replenishment.

5. Shipment Tracker and Updates

  • Purpose: Monitor shipments end-to-end and provide proactive visibility.
  • Key Duties:
  • Track air and sea shipments from origin to destination using forwarder portals, tracking systems, or direct communication.
  • Maintain live shipment dashboards (e.g., ETD, ETA, POD, exceptions).
  • Inform internal stakeholders (sales, finance, operations) of delivery timelines or delays.
  • Escalate and resolve issues like customs holds, port congestion, or transshipment delays.
  • Handle local deliveries of shipment


Arabic Speakers are preferred for this role.
