Key Responsibilities
1. Site Logistics Planning & Management
- Material Flow Control: Develop and implement detailed site logistics plans, including material receiving, storage layouts, laydown areas, internal transport routes, and traffic management schemes for vehicles and pedestrians.
- Coordination: Liaise daily with Construction Managers, Discipline Engineers, and the Procurement department to understand material delivery schedules and prioritize material staging based on the master project schedule.
- Internal Distribution: Manage and supervise the internal vertical and horizontal transportation of materials using tower cranes, hoists, forklifts, and trollies, ensuring efficient and damage-free delivery to work fronts.
- Storage Control: Oversee the management of site warehouses and open-yard laydown areas, ensuring materials are stored safely, securely, and in compliance with manufacturer specifications and quality control requirements (e.g., climate control, stacking limits).
2. Inventory & Documentation
- Receiving & Inspection: Supervise the receiving and off-loading of all delivered materials, coordinating with QA/QC teams for inspection, verification of delivery notes against purchase orders, and documentation of any shortages or damages.
- Inventory Management: Implement a robust material tracking system (physical and digital) to monitor stock levels, issue materials to subcontractors, and minimize material losses, theft, and wastage.
- Documentation: Ensure all logistics documentation, including material receipts, movement permits, and inventory records, are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.
3. Safety, Compliance & Resource Management
- HSE Compliance: Champion strict compliance with UNEC’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards for all logistics activities, particularly safe loading/unloading, rigging, and working within established traffic routes.
- Manpower Management: Supervise and lead the site logistics team, including material controllers, storekeepers, and laborers, optimizing their performance and efficiency.
- Equipment Maintenance: Monitor the deployment and safe operational status of all lifting and material handling equipment used for logistics purposes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related Engineering field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 to 7 years of dedicated experience in Logistics, specifically within the high-rise or heavy construction industry. At least 3 years of this experience must be in a supervisory role on major project sites in the UAE/GCC.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proven understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing related to material needs.
- Strong working knowledge of lifting plans, rigging safety, and managing heavy equipment interfaces on site.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) for reporting and tracking.
- Local Knowledge: Practical knowledge of UAE port procedures, customs clearance processes (if applicable), and local traffic regulations for material delivery.
- Skills: Excellent planning, organizational, and time management abilities. Strong negotiation and communication skills in English are essential for coordinating between various site and office teams.
