Loss Data Management Officer (Banking)

The Loss Data Management Officer will be responsible for the collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of operational loss data to support the bank’s risk management framework. The role ensures accurate loss event capture, regulatory compliance, and contributes to risk mitigation strategies through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage the centralized Operational Loss Database in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure accurate recording, classification, and validation of loss events across all business units.
• Coordinate with departments to capture complete and timely loss data, including root cause and impact analysis.
• Perform data quality checks to ensure integrity, consistency, and completeness of loss data.
• Prepare periodic risk and loss reports for senior management, risk committees, and regulatory submissions.
• Support the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and risk dashboards.
• Assist in risk assessments, scenario analysis, and stress testing using historical loss data.
• Identify trends and patterns in loss events to recommend preventive and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with internal audit and compliance teams for risk reviews and audits.
• Contribute to the enhancement of risk management frameworks, tools, and systems.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree (preferably MBA in Banking, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, or Environmental Sciences) from a recognized university.
• Relevant certifications in Risk Management (FRM, PRM, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

Experience

• 3 years of relevant experience, preferably within the Risk Management Division of a bank or financial institution.
• Hands-on experience with loss data management, operational risk, or risk reporting is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, data analysis tools, and risk management systems.
• Sound understanding of operational risk frameworks and Basel guidelines.
