Lower Elementary Homeschool Teacher (Lead)

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and creative Wild Sprouts Lead Teacher to guide young learners through a nature-based, hands-on homeschool enrichment program for the January-May semester. This role involves facilitating engaging academic and outdoor learning experiences inspired by child-led exploration, curiosity, and creativity. The ideal candidate will embrace a play-based, holistic approach to education while fostering social, emotional, and academic growth in a nurturing environment. Wild Sprouts meets at M&M Farms on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:45-1:25.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a mixed-age group of students (ages 5–7) through a blend of academic, art, science, and nature-based lessons.
  • Implement curriculum inspired by Wild Math and Blossom & Root, adapting activities to meet the needs and interests of each learner.
  • Encourage student curiosity through hands-on exploration, outdoor play, and creative problem-solving.
  • Foster a warm, inclusive, and respectful classroom community that supports collaboration and independence.
  • Incorporate literacy, numeracy, art, and nature study into daily lessons in developmentally appropriate ways.
  • Maintain communication with families to share student progress, weekly themes, and classroom updates.
  • Manage the classroom environment to ensure safety, engagement, and respect for both students and the natural setting in cooperation with co-teacher.
  • Prepare materials, supplies, and lesson plans that reflect the weekly themes and seasonal learning cycles.
  • Support student emotional development through positive guidance and mindful teaching practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching or leading children in homeschool, forest school, or nature-based programs.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Passion for outdoor education, hands-on learning, and fostering a love of nature.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to multiple learning styles and developmental levels.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
