Maintenance Laborer

Join our maintenance team as a Maintenance Laborer and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of our facilities. Performs a variety task in the maintenance and upkeep of properties, buildings, and grounds. Duties

- General maintenance related duties, including visually inspecting common areas and eliminating any obstacles to free passage, making certain that adequate lighting is always provided.

- Cleaning, including but not limited to vacant units, common areas, community buildings, lavatories, offices, stairwells, hallways, cellars, walls, woodwork, mopping floors, polish and maintain floors, empty wastebaskets, wash window, and trash removal.

- Landscaping, including but not limited to, cutting grass, pruning shrubs and trees, digging holes, mending broken/fallen fences, raking leaves, and light masonry tasks.

- Vacancy Turn Over, including but not limited to, interior and exterior restoration of vacant units.

- General repairs to and maintenance of buildings, including but not limited to minor carpentry, minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical work, minor repairs to plumbing and heating valves and pipes, electrical switches, stoves, refrigerators, windows, doors, mechanical equipment, snow blowers, power mowers, and other related duties.

- Painting, including all interior and exterior areas and plastering.

- Snow Removal.

- Moving and lifting heavy objects, such as stoves and refrigerators. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

- Driving pick-up or small trucks, including trailers and plows.

- Operates all power-driven equipment, including, but not limited to, posthole diggers, riding mowers, snow blowers, etc., operates self-propelled power equipment such as gasoline driven hand equipment, buffers, vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, waxes and polishers, etc.

- All other related duties of the class as directed by the Lead Mechanic/Supervisor, and Executive Director.

Supervision(received):

Director supervision is provided by the Lead Mechanic/ Supervisor and Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but are not limited to:

- Familiarity with applicable building and safety codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.

- Skill in use and care of tools, machinery and equipment customarily used by maintenance laborer.

- Ability to make decisions under pressure.

- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.

- Must maintain confidentiality of applicable resident and workplace information.

- Ability to work with culturally and socioeconomically diverse population.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be professional in appearance, conduct and comply with requirements of position.

A minimum of three (3) years of general property maintenance experience preferred.

Must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.

Must successfully pass a CORI, health, drug and alcohol test.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Hoisting license, or ability to obtain hoisting license within 6 months of date of hire, preferred.

Ten-hour OSHA card, or ability to obtain within 6 months of date of hire.

Bilingual a plus.
