Starting Salary Pay: $80,000.00+

As the Maintenance Manager for Pratt Industries - Houston, you will play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance of all converting equipment within the facility. This critical role involves proactive maintenance and timely repairs to significantly minimize operational downtime. As a working Maintenance Manager, you will actively participate in hands-on maintenance tasks while also leading and guiding the maintenance team to achieve efficiency and productivity goals. Your efforts are crucial in maintaining consistent production quality and output.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Practice safe work habits at all times.
  • Demonstrate ability to parallel all rolls, make all required settings and adjustments for optimum equipment performance to manufacture quality products.
  • Demonstrate ability to teach other maintenance classifications in all qualification requirements and proper maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot programmable controllers and troubleshoot and repair all A/C and D/C drives and their control systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to use all aspects of the maintenance software program.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and schedule maintenance work, assign work to other maintenance classifications according to their abilities and limitations.
  • Follow up all work to ensure repairs and work are performed properly.
  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by maintaining the machinery to run at available capacity and speed.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly, correctly, and in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Willingly work all necessary hours and shifts.
  • Help maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successfully demonstrate all Class B qualifications.
  • Provide own tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks.

Preferred: Prior work experience in the corrugated industry, or experience working in a manufacturing environment. Willing to train a recent technical school graduate.

Skills and Competencies

  • Language Skills: Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Mathematical Skills: Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation, product layouts and production specifications, product quality specifications, and quality standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • Ability to plan and schedule maintenance work, assigning tasks based on team member abilities.
  • A commitment to teaching and developing other maintenance classifications.
  • Strong follow-up skills to ensure repairs are performed properly.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • Experience: Prior work experience in the corrugated industry or manufacturing environment, demonstrating successful performance in Class B qualifications.
  • Preferred: Candidates with corrugated industry experience or recent technical school graduates eager to learn.
  • Basic Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot programmable controllers and repair A/C and D/C drives and their control systems.
  • Skills: Proficiency in using maintenance software programs, strong mechanical aptitude, and ability to read and interpret technical instructions.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the physical demands of the job, including lifting, standing, and working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications: May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification.
