Maintenance Mechanic

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team and ensure the optimal operation of our facilities and equipment. Responsibilities

- Building and ground maintenance and construction (including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, refrigeration, lawn care, etc.);

- Proper use and care of tools and equipment;

- Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building, electrical or mechanical trades;

- Possess good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as good computer skills.

- Perform carpentry work such as hanging doors, repairing and replacing cabinets, hardware, woodwork, siding, general structural and dry-rot repairs, building and repairing screens;

- Repair and maintain existing electrical systems, such as installing outlets, switches, repairing shorts in wiring and appliances, repairing thermostats, range elements, exhaust fans, and motors;

- Mechanical work such as repairing water leaks, installing and unplugging toilets, sinks, faucets, hot water tanks, and forced air systems;

- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Skills

- Identify and correct plumbing, carpentry, electrical and maintenance problems;

- Follow oral and written instructions;

- Perform heavy manual labor;

- Work independently in the absence of supervision;

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships among employees, tenants, vendors, and the general public;

- Keep detailed records and make reports;

- Effectively communicate with other staff, residents, and vendors both orally and in written form.

Special Requirements

- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license;

- Must respond to emergency situations during and after business hours; will be on call for two weeks a month for these situations.

- Must reside within a twenty (20) minute response time to the Authority’s public housing development in South Parkersburg.

Education/ Experiance

Five years’ experience in performing technical and semi-skilled maintenance or construction tasks with specialized experience in plumbing, masonry, electrical, carpentry and/or mechanical repairs as required by assignment. Graduation from a standard high school or a vocational school at a minimum or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
