Maintenance Planner/Technician

Indianapolis, United States

Job Description

Join Our Purpose - Feeding the Future

Nutreco is a member of the SHV family, and we are committed to 'Feeding the Future' through sustainable and innovative practices. Nutreco has two business lines: Skretting is a leading global provider of innovative aquafeed solutions, revolutionizing aquaculture for a sustainable future. Trouw Nutrition specializes in animal nutrition and is committed to advancing livestock health and productivity through cutting-edge solutions.

Selko is the feed additive brand of Nutreco. We provide specialty feed additives to optimise animal performance and customer value. Our solutions are backed by sound science, our team is committed to helping customers win, and products are manufactured to meet the highest quality standards!

About The Role: Selko’s Maintenance Planner & Technician is responsible for planning and scheduling all plant maintenance activities—including PMs, projects, and parts coordination—using the CMMS to maximize equipment uptime, while also serving as a hands-on Maintenance Technician approximately 40% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Schedule Maintenance Activities: Develop, schedule, and track Preventative Maintenance (PMs) and project work orders for equipment and facilities, coordinating with Production Planning and Operations to minimize impact on production.

  • CMMS and Data Management: Serve as the on-site CMMS champion (Computerized Maintenance Management System), including creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), training others, and generating reports to track key metrics like PM Attainment, equipment up-time, and unplanned maintenance time.

  • Maintenance Execution and Technical Support: Act as a Maintenance Technician (approximately 40% of the time) and provide technical expertise on equipment and processes, while also championing the preventative and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Inventory and Resource Coordination: Collaborate with the MRO buyer to ensure critical spare parts and inventory are on-hand for projects and repairs, and create detailed electronic "job packages" to maximize mechanic efficiency ("wrench time").

  • Safety and Continuous Improvement: Prioritize plant safety in all planning processes, enforce compliance with safety procedures (like LOTOTO), and proactively suggest and implement improvements to equipment, processes, and the planning workflow.

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of five years of experience in a maintenance organization, coupled with a high school diploma or GED (related technical education may substitute for some experience).

  • Must have prior experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software, with experience in M3 being a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience in both preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and skilled in using MS Office Suite.

  • Exposure to lean concepts (like 5S) and experience using maintenance metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE to gauge progress and eliminate downtime is preferred.

Expectation from the Role:

  • You are expected to champion both the preventative and predictive maintenance programs and the overall maintenance workflow. A core expectation is to live the Safety Culture of Zero Accidents and ensure all planning prioritizes plant safety needs and compliance.

  • A primary objective is to develop precise daily and weekend maintenance plans and create detailed "job packages" that significantly increase technician efficiency ("wrench time"). This directly supports the goal of maximizing equipment up-time/availability and minimizing lost production time due to unplanned maintenance.

  • Utilize the CMMS as the on-site champion to manage the master PM list, train others, and consistently assist in developing and providing the Maintenance Manager with critical data and metrics (such as PM Attainment, MTTR, and OEE) to track progress and identify areas for continuous improvement.

  • Shift: Weekdays M-F (6am-6pm), Rotation: Week 1: Mon/Tues/Wed, Week 2: Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs
