The Park District is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Superintendent in the Public Works Admin #2 Department of the Operations Division. This on-site position will be headquartered at the Pacheco Corp Yard. The Maintenance Superintendent serves as a member of the Park District's management team and has responsibility for providing expert leadership and consultation related to the maintenance and construction of Park infrastructure including paved roads, gravel roads, ranch roads, fire roads, soft surface trails, culverts, bridges, and crossings. The superintendent manages field crews, schedules maintenance operations, inspects infrastructure conditions, and coordinates with engineers, contractors, and environmental specialists to meet project goals and regulatory standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Under general direction, plans, organizes and implements the objectives, and administrative and operational activities of one or more of the following maintenance programs: building, structures, and utilities maintenance, roads and trails construction and maintenance, sanitation and recycling, and pavement management; develops program standards; supervises and evaluates program and operational staff; ensures compliance with regulatory agency and Park District requirements; and performs related duties as assigned.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Strong supervisory and leadership experience in the field of Public Works, Road Maintenance, Trail Construction, Pedestrian Infrastructure Maintenance and Heavy Equipment Operation
-
Skilled in scheduling maintenance, managing budgets, prioritizing projects, and coordinating resources effectively
-
Experience providing leadership to a diverse organization, fostering positive working relationships, and a commitment to public service
-
Experience interpreting and constructing plans related to civil construction
-
Proficient in road construction, stream restoration, grading, trail maintenance, culvert replacements, erosion control, drainage systems, etc.
-
Knowledgeable about sustainable practices, soil conservation, and habitat protection to minimize environmental impacts
-
Working knowledge of interpreting regulatory requirements and ensuring building and operational compliance
Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, facilities management, or a related field from an accredited college or university;
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time experience performing work in trades, maintenance, and construction, preferably at a journey-level, including two years at a supervisory level. An additional two (2) years of experience in the construction and maintenance of roads, trails, and asphalt pavements and sanitation systems is highly desirable.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License is a condition of initial and continued employment.
Possession of, or ability to obtain within the first year of employment, an AHERA and CAL OSHA Certification in Building Inspection and Management Planning for Asbestos.
Possession of, or ability to obtain within the first year of employment, a Dept. of Health Services and U.S. EPA Certification in Lead Based Paint Abatement supervision and monitoring is required.

Management Designation: This position is not affiliated with a union and is considered part of the Management group and is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (i.e. is not eligible for overtime); in addition to the regular work schedule, this position may require availability to work evenings and/or weekends. The probationary period for this position is one year. This position is designated as “at-will” and serves at the pleasure of the General Manager.
Internal Promotions: Placement shall be made at the first step in the salary range for the new position (Step A) unless the salary rate at Step A of the new position is less than a 5% increase. In such instances, the employee will be placed at a step in the new salary range that ensures at least a 5% increase.
