Maintenance Supervisor

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead a small team while actively maintaining and improving production equipment in a fast-paced metals manufacturing environment. This role will work daily on the production floor and is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Lead, schedule, and develop a team of maintenance technicians, including assigning work, coaching performance, conducting shift handoffs, and providing training and performance feedback.
  • Prioritize corrective and preventive maintenance using a CMMS while ensuring accurate documentation, strong PM compliance, and effective tracking of reliability metrics.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Safety to plan downtime, support equipment improvements, and manage vendors, contractors, and spare parts inventory.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, NFPA 70E, and facility safety and housekeeping (5S) standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems across manufacturing equipment including roll forming, stamping presses, punch presses, press brakes, lasers, welding equipment, conveyors, and paint/powder systems.
  • Perform PLC, HMI, and VFD troubleshooting, including I/O diagnostics, sensors, encoders, and minor logic adjustments to improve uptime.
  • Execute precision mechanical and electrical work including alignment, bearings, gearboxes, machining/fabrication, and systems ranging from 24V controls to 480V three-phase power.
  • Drive equipment reliability through root cause analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and monitoring of key metrics such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and PM effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and implement cost-effective solutions that improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in metals manufacturing, fabrication, or a related industrial environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a lead, senior technician, or supervisory role.
  • Technical diploma or Associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Military maintenance experience or equivalent hands-on industrial training considered a plus.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms such as Tractian, eMaint, Fiix, or Maintenance Connection preferred.
  • Familiarity with major controls platforms (e.g., Allen Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens) is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based in a manufacturing facility and requires daily, hands-on work on the production floor. The Maintenance Supervisor regularly works around heavy industrial equipment including presses, roll forming lines, welding equipment, and automated systems. The environment may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures. Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. Occasional overtime, weekend work, or on-call support may be required to address equipment issues and support production needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires frequent movement throughout a large industrial facility, including standing, walking, climbing ladders or stairs, bending, reaching, and working in and around machinery. The role involves hands-on maintenance work, troubleshooting equipment, and using tools. The employee must be able to lift, push, or pull materials and components up to 50 pounds. Strong manual dexterity, coordination, good vision and hearing, and the physical stamina to work safely in an active manufacturing environment are required.
