Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing vehicle repair and maintenance activities in the workshop, ensuring high-quality service, timely delivery, and efficient utilization of manpower and resources for cars, trucks, and buses.
* Key Responsibilities
1. Workshop Operations Management
- Supervise daily repair and maintenance activities
- Allocate jobs to technicians based on skill and workload
- Ensure timely completion of service and repairs
- Monitor turnaround time (TAT) of vehicles
2. Technical Supervision
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Guide technicians on repairs of engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
- Ensure adherence to OEM repair standards
3. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules
- Handle emergency breakdowns efficiently
- Ensure minimum downtime for commercial vehicles (trucks/buses)
4. Quality Control
- Conduct final inspection of vehicles before delivery
- Ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards
- Reduce repeat jobs and customer complaints
5. Team Management
- Supervise and train technicians, mechanics, and helpers
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and discipline
- Conduct skill development and safety training sessions
6. Spare Parts & Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with store department for availability of spare parts
- Ensure correct parts usage and avoid wastage
- Monitor consumption patterns
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure workshop safety practices (PPE, tools handling, fire safety)
- Maintain compliance with company policies and statutory norms
- Promote a safe working environment
8. Customer & Service Coordination
- Coordinate with service advisors on job status updates
- Support in technical explanations to customers when required
- Handle escalations related to technical issues
* Key Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of automobile systems (diesel & petrol engines)
- Hands-on experience with heavy vehicles (trucks/buses) preferred
- Leadership and team management skills
- Problem-solving and diagnostic ability
- Knowledge of workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic software
* Qualification
- Diploma / ITI / Degree in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering
- 4–10 years of experience in automobile service workshop
- Prior supervisory/team handling experience preferred
