Responsibilities
- Supervision & Leadership: Oversee and coordinate the work of electricians and other electrical technicians, providing guidance, instruction, and technical support.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all electrical work is performed in accordance with electrical codes, safety standards, company policies, and relevant legislation.
- Planning & Scheduling: Develop and implement schedules for electrical maintenance, installation, and upgrade projects, estimating materials and time needed.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Supervise planned and corrective maintenance, perform fault-finding, conduct repairs, and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Inspection & Quality Assurance: Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical problems, using diagnostic skills and troubleshooting techniques.
- Training & Development: Train and mentor junior electrical staff on safety practices and new technologies.
- Inventory & Procurement: Monitor and manage the inventory of electrical supplies and materials, ordering as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, equipment maintenance, and project progress.
- Collaboration: Work with other departments to support operational goals and ensure smooth project execution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, equipment (motors, transformers, etc.), tools, safety standards, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership, interpersonal, and clear communication skills (oral and written) to effectively manage a team and interact with other departments.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical and decision-making skills to effectively troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Detail-Oriented: An eye for detail to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to specifications.
- Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets and maintenance management systems (CMMS) like Maximo, for documentation and reporting.
- Education: A degree or diploma in electrical engineering or a related technical field is often required.
- Experience: Proven work experience in electrical maintenance and a proven record in a supervisory role.
