Our production environment includes advanced CNC machinery, automated material handling systems, edge banding technology, dust collection systems, compressed air systems, and precision finishing equipment.
We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance operations in a fast-paced, automation-driven manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across all plant operations.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor leads a (2) person team and is responsible for the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities within the facility.
This role ensures operational reliability of production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure while driving efficiency, safety, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Supervise, mentor, and develop maintenance & janitorial staff in a team-based environment.
- Establish KPIs for uptime, downtime reduction, preventive maintenance compliance, and maintenance cost control.
- Implement and manage a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work orders, scheduling, asset tracking, and reporting.
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support capital planning, equipment upgrades, and plant expansion initiatives.
Equipment & Systems Oversight
- Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot and repair CNC routers, edge banders, automated storage systems, panel saws, compressors, dust collection systems, wood processing machinery, material handling equipment and finishing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical (including 3-phase), pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Oversee basic HVAC P/M items , dust fire suppression, compressed air, and facility infrastructure systems.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and safety incidents.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe maintenance work areas.
Inventory & Vendor Management
- Manage spare parts inventory and critical safety stock.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts for parts, service agreements, and facility support services.
- Develop cost-effective sourcing strategies while maintaining equipment reliability.
- Monitor maintenance budgets and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner with Production, Engineering, and Leadership teams to improve workflow efficiency.
- Identify automation opportunities and support integration of new equipment.
- Implement predictive maintenance strategies using condition monitoring tools.
- Track and analyze maintenance data to drive operational improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- (7 to 10+) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (woodworking, automation, or industrial production preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems (including 480V 3-phase)
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
- PLC troubleshooting (a plus skill set)
- Industrial automation systems
- Experience working with CNC equipment and automated production lines strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Strong vendor negotiation and contractor management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments including dust, noise, temperature variation, and machinery.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Technical certification in Industrial Maintenance or Electrical Technology.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience in lean manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
- Welding and fabrication skills.
