I. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

  • Monthly inspections of all the programs.
  • Handles necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Installs equipment and appliances.
  • Follows local and state building codes.
  • Complies with all company safety regulations.
  • Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.
  • Reports any issues to the Compliance Support Specialist.
  • Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions from the Compliance Support Specialist.
  • Collaborates with the maintenance team, vendors, and contractors as needed.
  • Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.
  • Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
  • Provides cost estimates for repairs.
  • Purchases cost-effective items.
  • Work independently and have the ability to prioritize work orders.
  • General understanding of OARs.
  • Effectively manage Health and Safety and urgent needs for programs.
  • Available after hours in the event of an emergency.

II. OTHER DUTIES OF MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Physical Demands

  • Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.

Experience

  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is required.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience is advantageous for this role.
  • Proficiency in English is necessary for effective communication within the team and with customers.

Work Environment

  • While doing this job a Maintenance Techniciancould be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and body fluids, which can contain AIDS and Hepatitis viruses. Chemical exposure is limited to cleaners, disinfectants, and personal care items.

Confidentiality of Information

  • Maintain confidentiality of Tavros Care information regarding individuals including staff, residents, resident family members/natural supports, guardians, and situations.

III. PROBATIONARY PERIOD

All new employee hires are put on a probationary period. The probationary period will be for the duration of the employee’s first 90 days of employment. It is intended to be a trial period during which the employee is being evaluated as a suitable fit to the position and the company. A new employee will be given consistent feedback and coaching to have the chance to learn their new job and improve during the probationary period. At the end of the probationary period (or possibly before that), the supervisor will determine if the employee should be retained in the organization. This decision will be made by appraising the following criteria:

  • The skills, competencies and knowledge of the employee on the job
  • The employee’s progress on given assignments
  • The employee’s reliability, trustworthiness and other relevant personality characteristics of the employee
  • The employee’s relation and collaboration with subordinates, supervisors, and peers

The above-mentioned criteria will be assessed with quantitative measures, if applicable. Progress will be documented whenever possible, and the decision to retain an employee will be at the supervisor’s discretion.

IV. TIME OFF AND VACATIONS

Policy

  • Employees have all-purpose paid time off (PTO) that combines paid vacation and sick time. Employees start accruing the PTO on their first day of employment

V. QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least one year of building maintenance, construction, plumbing, or electrician experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • At least one year of maintenance in the IDD field is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • A certification in building maintenance is a plus.
  • Must have a driver’s license and a clean driving record

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
