Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician Level 4 is a highly experienced role responsible for the strategic oversight and advanced maintenance of critical industrial systems and machinery. This senior position requires expert-level technical skills, leadership abilities, and a strategic approach to maintenance management. The technician will lead major maintenance projects, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the highest levels of equipment reliability and safety.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Maintenance Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive maintenance strategies and programs for complex industrial equipment and systems, including predictive and condition-based maintenance.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem-solving for critical and complex equipment issues. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to resolve persistent or high-impact problems.
- Project Leadership: Oversee and manage major maintenance and capital improvement projects. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and external vendors, to ensure project success and alignment with organizational goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and safety. Analyze maintenance data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization.
- Team Leadership and Development: Supervise, mentor, and train Maintenance Technicians Level 1, 2, and 3. Provide guidance on advanced maintenance techniques, safety practices, and best practices.
- Compliance and Safety Management: Safety is a condition of employment. Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications. Prepare and present reports on maintenance performance, project status, and key metrics to senior management.
- Emergency Response: Lead the response to major equipment failures and emergency maintenance situations. Develop and implement contingency plans to minimize downtime and production impact.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance with a significant track record of managing complex systems and leading maintenance teams. Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role is required.
Must have a valid State issued driver’s license to operate a forklift.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), HVAC, Electrical) are highly desirable.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Advanced proficiency with PLCs, VFDs, control systems, and sophisticated diagnostic tools. Strong leadership and project management skills.
Physical Job Requirements:
Environment: Work in an industrial setting with exposure to machinery, noise, varying temperatures, and confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. Working at heights. Operate forklift and aerial lift.
Hours: Standard working hours with the possibility of overtime, shift work, or on-call responsibilities based on operational needs.
