We are looking for a thorough and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician for a group of well-established apartment communities in Sheffield Village. This person will be part of our growing maintenance team, and will be responsible for turning vacated apartments and performing a variety of tasks such as mechanical repairs, carpet removal, snow removal, exterior maintenance, etc. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently but also work well with other team members and tenants, and will be personable, reliable, responsible and meticulous. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition. As a small family-owned company, we can also offer schedule flexibility upon completion of training.
Responsibilities
- Turn vacated apartments, which includes checking and repairing all mechanical systems, replacing or repairing blinds, plumbing/light fixtures, tearing out carpet, repairing or cleaning appliances, shelving installations, trash disposal, garage cleaning, etc.
- Assist maintenance team in maintaining occupied apartments, both interior and exterior, including basic siding and roof repair, landscaping replacement, etc.
- Snow removal as needed in the winter time
- Shared on-call duties with other maintenance staff (rotating on-call nights and weekends)
- Diligently survey buildings and mechanical systems to ensure they are kept in good working condition
- Occasional pest control as needed
- Any other related duties as requested by property manager and leasing staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a maintenance technician or in a related field
- Thorough understanding of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
- Knowledge of general residential maintenance
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Personable and good communication skills to interact with tenants
- Good physical condition and strength, some heavy lifting is required
- Willingness to work occasional overtime when needed
- Flexible and willing to learn!
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Candidates with a certificate in HVAC will be strongly preferred and compensation will increase accordingly
- Must be able to perform in this role while twisting, turning, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and lifting objects weighing 50 lbs or more regularly
- Must be able to pass a background check and random drug tests
