Maintenance Worker

Position Summary

The Campground Maintenance Staff is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and overall appearance of campground facilities and grounds. This role helps ensure that all campground amenities, buildings, utilities, and outdoor areas remain clean, safe, and fully operational for guests.

Maintenance staff members work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor and play an important role in maintaining the campground’s high standards for safety, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds & Property Maintenance

• Assist with maintaining campground grounds, RV sites, cabins, roads, and common areas.
• Perform landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, weed control, and general site appearance.
• Help maintain recreational areas such as playgrounds, activity areas, and outdoor facilities.
• Assist with routine property inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.

Facility Maintenance

• Help maintain and repair campground facilities including restrooms, bathhouses, laundry rooms, cabins, and other buildings.
• Perform basic repairs related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
• Assist with maintaining campground amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and activity areas.
• Report any major maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.

Equipment & Infrastructure Support

• Assist with maintaining campground infrastructure including water, sewer, electrical hookups, and irrigation systems.
• Operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, power tools, and utility vehicles safely.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, and stored.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures and campground policies when performing maintenance work.
• Help maintain compliance with local regulations and safety standards.
• Report safety hazards or equipment concerns promptly.
• Assist with maintaining a safe environment for both guests and staff.

Guest Service

• Provide friendly and professional interactions with campground guests when encountered during daily work.
• Assist guests when appropriate and refer concerns or questions to campground management when necessary.
• Support the overall guest experience by helping keep the campground clean, attractive, and well-maintained.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Maintenance Skills

• Basic knowledge of general maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to assist with repairs to campground infrastructure such as RV electrical hookups, water lines, and sewer connections.
• Experience using common maintenance tools and equipment.

Problem Solving

• Ability to identify maintenance issues and assist with resolving them efficiently.
• Willingness to learn new skills and maintenance procedures.

Organization & Work Ethic

• Ability to complete tasks efficiently with attention to detail.
• Strong time management and ability to follow assigned work schedules.
• Commitment to maintaining campground cleanliness and appearance standards.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance, landscaping, construction, or related experience preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and general repairs helpful.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
• Willingness to learn campground maintenance procedures and safety standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Ability to operate maintenance vehicles and equipment.

Work Environment

This position works primarily outdoors and may require weekends, holidays, and flexible hours during the camping season. Maintenance staff must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and in a fast-paced campground environment.

Goal of the Position

To assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-maintained campground environment that provides an enjoyable and memorable experience for all guests.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
