Maintenance Worker

The Village of Mokena is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department. This position involves unskilled and semi-skilled work in a variety of public works, public lands, and utilities maintenance activities. Duties include general labor and maintenance work in the care and upkeep of streets, sewers, water lines, buildings and grounds, and parking facilities, as well as the operation of trucks, tractors, snowplows, and similar equipment in the performance of assigned duties. The position also includes snow and ice control, grounds maintenance, sign repair, janitorial work at Village facilities, and other related public works duties.

Applicants must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and meet the qualifications set forth in the job description. Municipal or related public works experience is preferred but not required.

The starting annual salary is $66,178, with additional annual step increases pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement, plus applicable contractual cost-of-living adjustments pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement.
