Key Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and repair structures using materials like brick, stone, concrete, and tile. Interpreting blueprints, mixing mortar, laying and aligning materials with tools such as trowels and levels, and ensuring structures meet project specifications and safety standards. The role requires physical strength, precision, and teamwork to construct durable walls, walkways, fireplaces, and other masonry projects.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and understanding technical drawings to determine project dimensions and materials needed.
- Material Preparation: Cutting, shaping, and preparing various masonry materials like brick, block, and stone.
- Mixing and Application: Mixing cement, mortar, or grout to set the materials.
- Construction and Alignment: Laying bricks, blocks, or stones to construct walls and other structures, ensuring proper alignment using levels and plumb lines.
- Finishing: Cleaning and polishing surfaces, and finishing freshly poured concrete.
- Maintenance and Repair: Restoring and repairing old or damaged masonry structures, such as repairing cracks in brickwork.
- Tool and Equipment Operation: Safely operating and maintaining hand tools (trowels, levels) and power tools (saws).
- Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations, setting up scaffolding, and identifying safety hazards on the job site.
- Quality Control: Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets high-quality standards and project requirements.

- Physical Stamina: The role is physically demanding, requiring strength to lift and carry heavy materials.
