JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is an integral part of the Monitoring, Audit and Enforcement (MAE) Program, which ensures that all workers' compensation injuries are administered in accordance with the Workers' Compensation Act. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; collecting/extracting and analyzing data; monitoring the claims handling techniques of insurer, self-insured employers and third party administrators and compiling compliance reports. Duties include evaluating work systems; designing data collection and reporting systems; and filing complaints concerning the practices of specific insurers, employers and/or third party administrators as necessary. Work is performed under limited supervision.
REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:
Collects/extracts workers' compensation data for management analysis. Analyzes workers' compensation data, summarizes findings and prepares reports. Develops, conducts and presents independent workers' compensation research. Monitors the claims handling techniques of insurers, elf-insured employers and third-party administrators. Recommends changes in workers' compensation data collection and reporting systems, workers' compensation claims handling techniques and workers' compensation compliance standards. Develops, implements and administers new and revised standard operation procedures. Develops and maintains professional relationships between the workers' compensation community and the Maine Workers' Compensation Board. Develops and updates internal and external documentation in order to outline performance methods, organizational policies and procedures and system operations.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of of relational databases, statistical sampling, organization and workflow. Knowledge of data collection and interpretation methods and techniques. Knowledge of methods and techniques of analysis, work simplification, and forms and records management. Ability to gather, assemble, calculate, and analyze facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to write clearly and effectively. Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office products with advanced experience in Excel. Knowledge in Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Access a plus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Six (6) years of education, training, and/or experience analyzing, evaluating, and/or developing improvements to organizational and/or managerial systems, programs, and practices.
Preference will be given to candidate who have experience with Excel spreadsheets, databases, computer report generators and statistics.
