JOB SUMMARY
This position is located in the Central Detention Facility (CDF) or the Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF), located at 1901 D Street, SE Washington, DC. This position is located in the D.C. Department of Corrections (DOC), Deputy Director for Administration, Cluster Accreditation and Compliance Unit. The DOC is mandated by the District of Columbia Council to achieve and maintain accreditation by the American Correctional Association (ACA), a national governing body. This position is responsible for carrying out parts of the accreditation process and has a critical impact on the operation of the facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the Audit Compliance Manager in creating program management assessment guidelines/policies, conducts periodic audits/evaluations as well as follow-up on adherence monitoring with the Agency to determine staff performance, compliance with applicable policy procedures, and standards, and administration of external contract services. Plans and organizes, conducts, and documents scheduled inspections to ensure that operations and programs are accomplished and in compliance as outlined in the policy and procedures; and represents the institution or program before the Commission on Accreditation at panel hearings for re-accreditation; assists with developing management operations assessment criteria for the Compliance and Accreditation Office.
Coordinates aspects of the program audit/evaluation, including interviews, gathering facts, and other date reviewing a wide variety of records and reports, analyzing data and determining the sufficiency, reliability and relevance of evidence used to support the conclusions and recommendation for approval implementation. Provides training and support to institution and program managers, assists with conducting audits at state and local correctional facilities in other jurisdictions, collects independent information and conducts research to keep abreast of emerging standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIORNMENT
Work is typically performed in an office environment; however, special safety precautions and clothing may be utilized during performance of safety and security inspections involving facilities, apparatus, tools and equipment, etc. Incumbent will routinely visit and inspect correctional facilities including secure inmate housing areas.

Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is not covered under a collective bargaining agreement.
Position Designation: The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability – Safety Sensitive. This position is subject to mandatory pre-employment and periodic Criminal Background Checks. This position is also subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing.
Essential Position Designation: The incumbent of this position is designated as “Essential” to the Agency.
Residency Requirement: Applicants claiming “Residency Preference” will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of employment.
A TB Test is required prior to entry on duty.
