Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

H2C is in search of a Mission Assurance Programs Manager within the Mission Excellence organization to oversee the Contractor Assurance System (CAS) processes and performance in various topical areas, such as requirements management, performance indicators, observations program, issues management, CAS training, and performance monitoring and trending.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate safety ownership and model H2C and Mission Excellence values.
- Lead and manage CAS activities, ensuring effective implementation across field operations.
- Manage contractor assurance activities to support field implementation.
- Monitor corrective actions and provide feedback to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct routine coordination meetings, management observations, and assessments.
- Continuously improve event investigation processes, including causal analysis and lessons learned.
- Coordinate benchmarking and independent assessments with DOE and parent companies.
- Facilitate integration of company policies and procedures related to CAS, Conduct of Operations, Quality, and Environment, Safety & Health.
- Oversee CAS processes supporting Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), plant reviews, corrective action management, and conduct of operations.
- Prepare and deliver verbal and written reports, including formal presentations to senior management and DOE.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and implement process improvements.
- Provide direction and oversight to staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Lead hazard analysis processes and ensure personnel training aligns with responsibilities.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, encouraging employee feedback.
- Investigate accidents, non-compliances, and adverse trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate project and equipment performance, operational anomalies, and plant conditions from a CAS perspective.
- Mentor and develop Mission Excellence staff to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong interaction with Hanford site contractors to communicate status, issues, and improvement actions.
- The successful candidate must be willing to enter the Tank Farms as necessary for system walk downs for issue resolutions and fact-finding activities.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills to communicate with personnel, management, support organizations, DOE, DNFSB Staff, regulators and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Grade 20:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 10 years' directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Grade 21:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 12 years' directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Desired Qualifications
* Proven leadership experience in safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Strong knowledge of CAS, Conduct of Operations, and DOE requirements.
- Ability to manage complex processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of operations and nuclear operations policies/procedures and administrative controls.
- Experience in leading assessments, issue investigation and fact-finding meetings.
- Experience providing feedback to improve performance by performing analysis using various methods and techniques, such as data analytics, CAS automated tools, causal analysis, and Human Performance Initiative (HPI) principles and investigative techniques.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum $131,888
Hiring Range Maximum $183,050
