Manager Business Development

The Manager, Business Development will work off-site and lead business origination, client engagement, partnership development, and proposal coordination for new assignments at the regional level. The role will support the growth of BAZ Consultants across its core advisory areas, including management and financial advisory, SME and private sector development, access to finance, capacity building, institutional strengthening, Islamic finance, strategy, feasibility work, and process improvement.

Reporting line

The Manager, Business Development will report directly to the Managing Director.

Location and working arrangement

· Off-site

· Regional scope

· Frequent virtual coordination with the Managing Director and internal teams

· Travel as required by business needs

Key responsibilities

· Identify and track new business opportunities from donors, development finance institutions, governments, regulators, financial institutions, corporates, and other development sector clients

· Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of consulting assignments, framework agreements, partnerships, and strategic leads

· Review expressions of interest, requests for proposals, and other bid opportunities and recommend bid or no-bid decisions

· Lead and coordinate preparation of expressions of interest, concept notes, technical proposals, presentations, and other business development materials

· Develop and maintain relationships with clients, partners, consultants, and sector experts across target markets

· Position BAZ for assignments in areas such as SME finance, credit guarantees, blended finance, value chain finance, Islamic finance, training, institutional development, and financial sector advisory

· Prepare company profiles, capability statements, project references, and tailored outreach material for target clients

· Support market scanning and generate business intelligence on priority sectors, countries, partners, and clients

· Maintain an up-to-date pipeline tracker, submission calendar, partner database, and proposal library

· Work closely with the Managing Director on strategic growth priorities, client targeting, and partnership outreach

· Ensure confidentiality of all commercial, technical, and client-related information

Expected deliverables

· Weekly updated business opportunity pipeline

· Monthly business development progress report

· Bid assessments and opportunity notes for priority leads

· High-quality proposal submissions and supporting documentation

· Client and partner outreach tracker

· Sector and market intelligence briefs as assigned

Key performance indicators

· Number and value of qualified opportunities identified

· Number of proposals and expressions of interest submitted

· Success rate of submitted bids

· Number of new client and partner relationships developed

· Contribution to revenue growth and strategic expansion

· Timeliness and quality of submissions and reports

Required qualifications and experience

· Master’s degree in business, finance, economics, development studies, public policy, or a related field

· At least 3+ years of relevant experience in business development, consulting, partnerships, or donor-funded projects

· Strong experience in proposal writing and opportunity capture

· Good understanding of development sector procurement and consulting assignments

· Familiarity with the financial sector, SME development, access to finance, or advisory services will be preferred

· Strong written English and strong presentation skills

Contract period

· Salary is negotiable

· Initial term may be 12 months, subject to performance and business need
