Role Overview:


The Data Governance Manager/Lead is accountable for the governance, quality, and correct usage of master data within assigned data domains. The role serves as the single point of accountability

for domain-level data policies, standards, definitions, and quality thresholds, ensuring data is

accurate, consistent, compliant, and fit for business, reporting, and regulatory purposes.

This position drives the practical execution of enterprise data governance by owning domain

definitions, approving structural changes, resolving data conflicts, and ensuring adherence to

governance frameworks, SOPs, and business rules. The role works closely with business

stakeholders, Data Quality Specialists, and system teams to maintain trusted, high-quality data

across the organization.


About the Job:


Key Role and Responsibilities:


Domain Data Governance & Standards

  • Define, maintain, and enforce domain-level data policies, standards, business definitions, and quality thresholds.
  • Serve as the authoritative owner of data definitions, hierarchies, classifications, and attributes within the assigned domain.
  • Approve structural domain changes, including new attributes, hierarchies, and classifications.
  • Ensure consistency between business processes, data standards, and system configurations.


Data Ownership & Stewardship

  • Act as the single point of accountability for data quality, completeness, and correct usage
  • within the domain.
  • Resolve cross-functional conflicts related to data definitions, ownership, or data usage.
  • Facilitate governance decisions through stewardship forums and working groups.


Data Quality & Compliance

  • Define and govern domain-level data quality KPIs (accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency).
  • Monitor quality performance and drive remediation actions through Data Operations and Data Quality team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to remediate recurring data quality issues.
  • Ensure domain data complies with business requirements, reporting standards, audit expectations, and regulatory obligations.
  • Support audits by providing governance evidence, definitions, policies, and quality standards.


Master Data Maintenance

  • Design and maintain quality control frameworks to prevent invalid, duplicate, or inconsistent data.
  • Review and approve exceptions and changes as required.
  • Support data migration, transformation, or restructuring activities from a governance perspective.


Policies, SOPs & Knowledge Management

  • Create, maintain, and approve governance policies, SOPs, and business rules for the domain
  • Maintain governance documentation, business glossaries, and standard definitions
  • Promote consistent understanding and correct usage of data across the organization


Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory

  • Act as the domain governance authority for business, analytics, operations, and IT teams
  • Provide guidance on data implications for business initiatives, reporting, and transformations
  • Partner with Data Quality Specialists to define validation rules and integrity checks


Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Svstems, Business, Data Management or related field.


Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in data governance, master data management or enterprise data roles
  • Hands-on experience managing domain-level data definitions and quality
  • Experience working in governed, audit-sensitive environments


Skills and Competencies


  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and stewardship models
  • Excellent knowledge of master data concepts and data quality management
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
