Position Summary

The Manager of Emergency Management Communications for ECU Health is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating all emergency communication strategies for all of ECU Health. This role involves developing, implementing, and facilitating comprehensive training programs on emergency communications for healthcare providers and the public, with a focus on enhancing skills and knowledge for managing emergencies effectively.

As the Manager, you will work in close collaboration with the local emergency management liaisons at ECU Health Hospitals, ECU Health Medical Group practices, ECU Health Access entities, and ECU Health Properties in the assigned region to ensure timely, accurate, and coordinated communication during emergencies, disasters, or critical incidents to protect patients, staff, and organizational assets. You will lead preparedness planning, response coordination, training, exercise, and after-action evaluations related to emergency communications.

Additionally, as the Manager, you will ensure alignment with The Joint Commission's six critical areas of emergency management Communications as well as assist in other areas including: Resource Management, Safety and Security, Staff responsibilities, Utilities management, and Clinical Operations. This position plays a key role in enhancing the systems emergency preparedness, resilience, and ability to effectively manage crises, ensuring optimal patient outcomes during both routine and emergency situations. This role reports to the System Director of Emergency Management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree required (Bachelor degree preferred)
  • 5 years of related experience in emergency management, crisis communication, or hospital operations is required
  • ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 required (if not, must be obtained within six months of employment)
  • All Hazards Incident Management Team Course (O-305) required (if not, must be obtained within twelve months of employment)

Other Information

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday (8 am - 5 pm)
  • Emergency activations could necessitate after hours work
