As the Manager Engineering & Works, you'll provide strategic, technical and people leadership to the clients Engineering and Works teams. You will oversee the planning, design and delivery of municipal infrastructure including roads, drainage, pathways and traffic management, and manage the implementation of council and grant-funded capital works programs.

You'll be responsible for the efficient management of resources, budgets and projects to ensure quality, timely and cost-effective service delivery. This includes managing asset-based programs to complement works programs and capital works projects, supporting subdivision and development processes and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and sustainability objectives.

A key focus of this role is building and supporting a dynamic team. You'll mentor and develop staff, foster collaboration across the organisation and promote a positive, respectful and safety-focused workplace culture. Your leadership style will inspire accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement - enhancing the Shire's ability to deliver reliable, community-focused engineering and works outcomes.

Qualifications Required
  • Proven leadership and managerial expertise
  • Experience and/or qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of civil infrastructure construction projects and maintenance programs
  • Understanding of civil design and/or construction
  • Knowledge of asset management in a local government context
  • Thorough understanding of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards, MRWA standards and Traffic Management.
