The Role

The IT Procurement Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for IT-related categories such as software, hardware, cloud services, SaaS, telecommunications, and consulting. This role ensures cost-effective sourcing, vendor performance, and alignment with organizational goals like compliance, sustainability, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
    • Develop and implement category strategies for IT and select non-IT areas.
    • Lead competitive sourcing and contracting initiatives.
    • Conduct market analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Supplier Relationship Management
    • Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs).
    • Manage vendor performance and drive continuous improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with internal departments (IT, Finance, Legal) to align procurement with business needs.
    • Educate stakeholders on procurement policies and best practices.
  • Process Optimization
    • Improve procurement workflows and implement automation tools.
    • Use analytics to identify spend aggregation and efficiency opportunities.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, IT, or related field.
  • 15 + years of experience in IT procurement or category management.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer).
  • Understanding of legal terms: indemnity, IP rights, data ownership, liability limits.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPSM, CPM, or similar procurement certifications.
  • Experience in multinational or technology-driven organizations.
  • Exposure to AI-driven procurement tools and global sourcing strategies.
  • Multilingual capabilities for global vendor interactions.
