Job Description: The Community Day Services Manager of Operations supervises the operation of the Community Day Services Program. This individual manages the functioning of the program and assures that program participants are receiving services based on their Person Centered Plans. This position involves coordinating work, volunteer, and educational opportunities on site and in the community. This individual supervises the CDS Coordinator and the Developmental Trainers/DSPs within the department.

DT Manager of Operations

  • Follow DHS Rule 119, Rule 115, and CARF standards in directing the operations of the CDS program.
  • Direct the activities of the Developmental Training staff in coordination with the CDS Coordinator, assuring that planned activities and work assignments are carried out.
  • Document staff performance and complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Assure that individual outcomes and support strategies are actively pursued during routine daily activity and monitor related data.
  • Assure completion of appropriate incident, behavior, and seizure reports.
  • Insure the safety of individuals served in the program.
  • Monitor accuracy of consumer timecards/service sheets and staff time cards using applicable technology.
  • Be alert to individuals’ medical needs of participants and report concerns to QIDP’s and Manager of Health Services to assure that medical needs are being addressed.
  • Attend semi-annual and annual person centered planning meetings, when necessary.
  • Assist the Director of CDS and Director of Residential Services in the ongoing training of staff members.
  • Work with other agency staff in managing and developing community work opportunities for CDS Program participants and assure high quality work at these sites.
  • Assist the CDS Management Team in the orientation of new participants.
  • Coordinate and communicate with QIDP’S, residential supports, consumer guardians/parents, and other agency staff to assure efficient provision of services.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other community service agencies to assure that
individuals are receiving comprehensive support services.
  • Assist with the CDS Program Evaluation process.
  • Monitor spending for supplies and materials in the CDS Program.

Other Responsibilities
  • Follow DSP training and job description
  • Provide coverage at CDS Sites or CILA’s as needed
  • Responsible for attending trainings to meet annual requirements: First Aid, CPR, CPI, Safety
  • Respect persons served and promote a positive image of person with disabilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands. The employee is frequently required to stand for a minimum of an hour. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; bend; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move 50 pounds. The employee must have the ability to walk moderate distances, greater than 250 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate’s degree or its equivalent
  • DSP trained
  • At least 3 years’ experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • 3 years’ experience in staff supervision is preferred.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License
  • Maintain minimum insurance requirement
  • Pass physical function test
  • Must have or be able to obtain CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, First aid qualifications
  • Data entry skills using programs such as VERTEX, Paychex, and Paychex Flex
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Lead team by example, and promote leadership and input from team.

This position is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position (37.5 hours), Monday through Friday 8:00am–4:00pm with some flexibility required to meet job duties as outlined. This individual reports directly to the Director of CDS.
