The Operations Training Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic planning, and continuous improvement of Cincinnati Metro’s Operations training programs. This role oversees the development and execution of training for all bus operator-related programs, including new operator training, return-to-work, refresher, and specialized operations training. The Manager leads a team of Training Supervisors and collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure all programs are effective, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead and manage the operations training team, including supervising Operations Training Supervisors and the performance of Operations Training Specialists
- Chairs the Operations Training Steering Committee (OTSC), engaging key leaders from Operations, HR, and Safety in discussions to ensure Operations training remains relevant and aligned with Metro’s changing needs.
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate training strategies, curricula, and performance standards that align with Metro’s service, safety, and workforce development goals.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration (e.g., Operations, Safety, HR) to ensure training content remains relevant and aligned with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to training effectiveness, operator and trainee retention, safety compliance, and service quality; recommend data-driven improvements.
- Provide direction, coaching, and performance feedback to direct reports. Identify growth and development opportunities for training staff, cultivating a pipeline of instructional and leadership talent.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT, FTA, and ODOT and the ability to work in compliance with Metro's security policies.
- Support audits, investigations, and compliance reviews by preparing and maintaining accurate training documentation and reports.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in a transportation or education- related discipline preferred
Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in urban bus transportation
- Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience in training, transit operations, or a related field preferred
- Knowledgeable of federal, state transportation regulations and programs (DOT, FTA, ODOT)
