A Brief Overview

The Manager - Patient Access CAH is responsible for the tactical implementation and daily oversight of Patient Access operations for assigned acute care sites or service areas. This role ensures consistent, accurate, and compliant front-end revenue cycle processes through direct team supervision, performance monitoring, and adherence to established procedures.

What you will do


  • Coordinates daily patient access functions including registration, eligibility verification, financial clearance, pre-arrival collections, uninsured and underinsured workflows, and financial assistance processes.
  • Provides direct supervision of front-line Patient Access staff, including daily staffing, workflow assignments, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Ensures compliance with established patient access policies, procedures, payer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitors operational performance metrics and implements immediate workflow or staffing adjustments as needed.
  • Supports front-end revenue cycle outcomes by reducing registration errors and preventable denials through staff oversight.
  • Collaborates with clinical departments, Social Work, Case Management, Compliance, and Revenue Cycle teams to resolve routine operational issues.
  • Works with Revenue Cycle Informatics and IT teams to support proper system use and escalate system issues.
  • Manages daily operations within an established departmental budget, including monitoring staffing levels and overtime usage.
  • Communicates operational updates and escalates complex issues to senior Patient Access leadership.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:


  • Less than 1 year Experience in hospital patient access or front-end revenue cycle operation.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:


  • Bachelor's Business, Health Information Management, Nursing or related field
  • 1-3 years Experience in a lead or supervisory role.
